Physiology is the scientific study of the chemistry and physics behind basic body functions, from how molecules behave in cells to how systems of organs work together, how their activities are regulated, coordinated and integrated for maintaining the well being of the organism as a whole.
Diseases cause a disturbance to the normal functioning.Pathology is the study of disordered functioning. Therapeutics is the attempt to restore normal functioning. Thus Physiology forms the basis of Medicine.
Learning physiology helps us to understand how the body responds and adapts to the challenges of everyday life; it also helps us to determine what goes wrong in disease, facilitating the development of new treatments and guidelines for maintaining human and animal health.
Course Objectives:
- Provides knowledge of the correlation between structure and function of organism.
- Creates awareness of various diseases ,their origin and treatment.
- Understanding the efficiency of our immune system
- Applies the knowledge gained, in preventing common diseases rather than curing.
