Dr Jacob K Jacob
Dr Jacob K Jacob is Professor and at present, the Head-in-charge of the Department of Internal Medicine, Government Medical College, Ernakulam. After completing his MBBS from Kottayam Medical College he worked in the remotest villages of Rajasthan as community service for a few years where he set up a Community Health Project. He later joined for his Post-Graduation in General Medicine at M P Shah Government Medical College, Jamnagar. He served in Kottayam Medical College and Caritas Hospital, Kottayam before joining the present Government Medical College, Ernakulam in 2002. Dr Jacob is a brilliant academician, a passionate teacher as well as an experienced counsellor. His areas of interest are Geriatrics and Diabetology. He has done his M Phil in Geriatrics, holds a post-graduate diploma in Diabetology as well as a diploma in counselling. He has published many papers in National and International journals. At present, he is an integral part of the Corona Unit Wing in the Government Medical College, Ernakulam and he and his team were efficacious in trying out a four-course drug for the successful treatment of the critically ill British national Brian Neil, an action which was highly acclaimed by medical professionals in India and abroad.
